Why not visit a winery? But this isn't really so. Just about all of the 50 states have at least a few wineries; ditto for just about every country in the world's temperate regions. And even if your local wineries fall somewhat short of being competitive on a world scale - as is certainly true of the Ohio River Valley wine regions in Southern Indiana and Kentucky, where I live - if you enjoy wine, chances are you'll enjoy a visit to a wine producer anywhere. With summer just about at hand in the Northern Hemisphere, there's no time like the present to think about saddling up for a visit to a winery near you. If you live or plan to travel anywhere in the U.S., here's a Website that's not to be missed: Bob Hodge's AllAmericanWineries, http://www.allamericanwineries.com, is a non-commercial site with the most complete U.S. winery listings I've found. State by state, it offers maps and complete lists of wineries, complete with hotlinks to many winery Websites. No matter where you're headed, chances are that AllAmericanWineries will find a winery - or several - along your route. If you live in or plan to visit any other part of the world, don't feel left out. We have assembled an international collection of links to wine-region Websites on our Favorite Wine Links pages. To click directly to our section on World Wine Areas, go to http://www.wineloverspage.com/cgi-bin/links/linkgroup.cgi?lt=2&cat=33. Happy trails!
