Season's Greetings

The world pauses for a moment of peace this weekend as a sizable portion of humanity celebrates the winter holidays, Christmas and Hanukkah both arriving together on Sunday. For most people, it's a time of joy, celebrating the holiday with family and friends.

Butler's Bubbly As my seasonal greeting to you all, let's revisit the hilarious online greeting cards presented by the great London wine merchant Berry Bros. & Rudd. If you missed this link last year (or even if you didn't), you'll find it a pleasant, wine-related chuckle ... and perhaps a good way to catch up with those last-minute greetings that you forgot to sent out until now.

A free gift from BB&R to the wine-loving world, these four humorous Christmas Greeting cards feature animated wine-related greetings that you can fill in with a personal note and send to friends and family along the world ... as long as they've got E-mail and the necessary computer software to view Flash animations.

Big Kiss Wine snobs and the overly serious might find these cards on the irreverent side, but for the rest of us, the "Butlers Bubbly," "Xmas Bugle Call," "Big Kiss" and "Swinging Chandelier" cards are just the thing to torment our wine buddies and other long-suffering friends. Also available on the BBR site are four General Greetings Cards, suitable for year-round frivolity: "Iron Maiden's Birthday," "Sir Francis Drink's Embarrassing Moment," "Wake-Up Bugle Call" and "Flying High."

Again, this is a free treat for the wine-loving world from Berry Bros. & Rudd, a firm that has long impressed me with the quality and rich content of its Website, an Internet publication that goes far beyond mere commerce to present serious wine education ... and entertainment. Assuming that your computer is equipped to handle Flash animations, I think you'll enjoy their greeting cards, and more. To view the cards - and send them to your friends - click

Connoisseur's Series Wine Club
Connoisseur's Series Wine Club
90+ Rated Wines Every Time!

It's not easy to acquire the kind of California wines that earn top ratings from Wine Spectator, Connoisseur's Guide or the Wine Advocate.

There's the hard way: Painstakingly work your way onto dozens of winery mailing lists, one at a time.

And then there's the easy way: Join the Connoisseur's Series Wine Club, and receive California's most highly rated and sought-after wines, month in and month out.

Here are just a few of the outstanding wines that Connoisseur's Series members have recently enjoyed:

Chappellet Vineyards 2001 "Pritchard Hill Estate Vineyard, Napa Valley" Cabernet Sauvignon
Delectus Winery 2001 "Stanton Vineyard, Oakville, Napa Valley" Cabernet Portfolio Limited Edition 2002 "Napa Valley"
El Molino 2002 "Rutherford, Napa Valley" Chardonnay
Turnbull Wine Cellars 2002 "Napa Valley" Cabernet Sauvignon
Au Bon Climat 2001 Harmony "Nuits-Blanches au Bouge" Chardonnay

The Connoisseur's Series is the only wine club in America that can guarantee a monthly wine shipment of impossible to find, 90+ point rated wines - each and every time.

And now, for the first time ever, membership in this remarkable club is being made available to Wine Advisor subscribers.

Whether you choose to receive wines monthly, every other month or quarterly, every shipment is guaranteed to include two to four bottles of California's highest-rated wines.

You will also receive detailed tasting notes, cellaring recommendations and winemaker comments. Monthly shipments average $125-$175, including all shipping and handling.

To join this elite club, call The California Wine Club at 1-800-777-4443 and ask about our Connoisseur's Series.
