Our pies for Pi day

Postby Jon Peterson » Fri Mar 15, 2013 1:44 pm

Liz and my daughter made two pies for dinner yesterday. One was a meat pie made with sausage and ground beef and the second was a spinach pie with a little arugula added. The spinach pie was an adaptation of a recipe found in American Grown by Michelle Obama (Copyright 2012 by the National Park Foundation).
Both pies ere very savory and delicious with the spinach pie having a creamier texture, as you might expect, but with a slight but satisfying bitterness provided by the arugula.

Nice! The spinach-arugula one sounds great.

Letterman asked Zevon if his condition had taught him anything about life and death. ''How much you're supposed to enjoy every sandwich,'' Zevon answered. (From a 2003 NYTimes article on Zevon by Jon Pareles.)
