Bob Henrick wrote:Larry, have you contacted GE about the problem? It might not do a nickel's worth of good, but it can't hurt. Also, you might want to copy this thread and forward it to them as well. You might even let them know how many hits per day this DG gets. Sure, not every one of them read this thread, but we won't mention that. Robin, might even be able to give you a ballpark number of hits on a single thread like this one. One should not have to throw out one appliance and buy another without giving the maker of the lemon a lot of grief.

You may have noticed that I'm not a shrinking violet. GE's ears got scorched with my email, but I haven't heard back from them yet.

While I'm looking for another stove, I installed an oven ignitor tonight. The store that I usually buy ignitors for $60 said they went up to $81. I told them they could shove it, and found one for $41 elsewhere. Guess who's not getting my biz anymore?

Naive question, but was there no just sticking a match in there to light the fire in lieu of an igniter for the time being?

Lighting with a match worked when there were pilot lights. With a bad ignitor, gas is not allowed to flow. Ergo, there is nothing to light.
