Hi Martin,
That is a side dish I serve often in my home. Simple, quick and easy to prepare. I use honey instead of sugar but it is basically the same. Once in a while, I add a little Bourbon (not sure how to say that in German; it is a very strong liquor from Kentucky USA) and cardamom. The Bourbon and cardamom may sound like strange additions, but they compliment the carrots and orange very well while adding a couple rising levels of flavor.
