Think a Sancerre, Vouvray or Pinot Gris? How about a Gruner V?

Sancerre if it's a sharper chevre. Vouvray if it's creamier and the mushrooms are more prominent. Either will be fabulous with it.

Yes.

As Stuart says, all will work well, depends somewhat on cheese and seasonings.. But, enjoy..

I would say Pinot Noir with those two "earthy" ingredients.

The host does not want to start with a red, and being in Alberta thought a Canadian P Gris would be nice! Sandhill, Cedar Creek would work nicely I think. Lousy Sancerre selection here but dry Vouvray would work for me!!

Pinot Gris could work well. I did Pinot Gris and a mushroom dish last night. I didn't have goats cheese, though.

As long as it's not too Alsatian Unctous, that would be my fear for this dish.

Rahsaan, I would absolutely agree, but one wine that I'm sure would work is a St-Joseph or Cozes-Hermitage blanc, which will be on the unctuous side. It just seems to love chevre and mushrooms both, so why not together?

Yes, I can see that. Typically nuttier and not quite as oily as some of those Alsatian Bombs I was fearing. Good thoughts!

It wouldn't be my first choice but, yes, I think that a Gruner V. would be fine.

Yeah GV was on my mind too. As it is a dinner party here in Edmonton Alberta, and not too many wine geeks at the event, think BC Pinot Gris way to go. Me I would serve all the suggestions!!!
