Delamotte Champagne Delamotte non-vintage Les Mesnils/Oger Brut ($29.99)
Clear pale-gold, with a frothy mousse and an active and lasting stream of pinpoint bubbles. Delicious fresh apple and "biscuit" aromas, clean and fresh. Mouth-filling, full and tart, crisp fruit flavor, rich and long. A fine way to whisk out the Old and see in the New. U.S. importer: Wilson Daniels Ltd., St. Helena, Calif. (Dec. 31, 1998)

FOOD MATCH: Midnight toasting.

Previous day's wine note

All my wine-tasting reports are consumer-oriented. In order to maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, I purchase all the wines I rate at my own expense in retail stores.
