Quivira 1993 Dry Creek Valley Dry Creek Cuvee ($8.99)
Dark ruby color. Spicy oak over peppery red-fruit aromas. Full, juicy and bright, more fruit on the palate than the nose; black pepper and lemon-squirt acidity bring it together in a very approachable table wine. It's a blend of Grenache (56%), Mourvedre (24%), Syrah (13%) and Zinfandel (7%). (Dec. 9, 1997)

FOOD MATCH: The fresh fruit and lemony acidic qualities made it a particularly good match with a Greek-style chicken roasted with lemon, olive oil, garlic and oregano.

All my wine-tasting reports are consumer-oriented. In order to maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, I purchase all the wines I rate at my own expense in retail stores.
