Argiolas 1995 "Perdera" Monica di Sardegna ($7.29)
This newly arrived Sardinian red went particularly well with pasta alla salsa cruda -- linguine tossed with fresh garden tomatoes, basil and lots of garlic. Clear dark garnet color. Black cherry and slightly dank oak aromas blow off to reveal earthy and caramel notes. Good juicy fruit flavor, ripe and very tart, almost sour acidity making it a bit rough for sipping on its own, but the tomatoes in the pasta bring it into balance; good food wine.
