Santa Rita Santa Rita 1995 "Medalla Real" Maipo Valley (Chile) Cabernet Sauvignon ($13.79)
Clear, dark garnet, with black fruit and spicy oak aromas surrounded by wafts of caramel and green bell peppers. Black fruit flavor, soft and full, with sufficient acidity for structure. Gentle tannins suggest at least modest aging potential. Good table quaff, but you'll find better values in this mid-range price niche. U.S. importer: Vineyard Brands Inc., Birmingham, Ala. (July 10, 1999)

FOOD MATCH: Fine with steaks.

All my wine-tasting reports are consumer-oriented. In order to maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, I purchase all the wines I rate at my own expense in retail stores.
