Previous day's wine note
|Cloudy Bay 2000 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc ($22.99)|
This clear, light brass-colored wine bursts from the glass with mixed citric aromas of fresh grapefruit and the characteristic herbal scents of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. It's perhaps not quite as over-the-top with green chile pepper and jalapeno aromas as some vintages, but you'll find plenty of green pepper and snappy citrus in its fresh, full flavor. U.S. importer: Clicquot Inc., NYC. (June 18, 2001)
FOOD MATCH: Perfect with a vegetarian entree designed to match its herbaceous nature: Fresh asparagus spears and a light puree of asparagus, green peppers and onions over gorgonzola polenta.
Wine notes in 'shelf-hanger' format:|
We publish Wine Lovers' Page tasting reports in the familiar "shelf-hanger" size and format, to make it easy for wine merchants or collectors to print them out, clip and post them where this wine is displayed. We do ask, however, that the Wine Lovers' Page name and URL be left intact, and that these reports be used with the specific wines rated, not different bottlings or vintages.
All my wine-tasting reports are consumer-oriented. In order to maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, I accept no free samples from wineries or distributors, purchasing all the wines I rate at my own expense in retail stores.
