Wild Horse 1995 Monterey Pinot Blanc ($11.49) Clear pale gold. Pears and toasty oak aromas. Crisp, juicy and bright flavor, simple fruit, full-bodied and tart, a pleasant bitterness in the finish. Decent wine, rather "Chardonnay-styled," more focused on oak than fruit; pushing the limit on value. (Dec. 28, 1997) FOOD MATCH: The richness that the oak imparts made it a decent match with an Italian-style variation on macaroni-and-cheese with bits of ham.
