Laurel Glen 1996 Quintana Cabernet Sauvignon ($12.99)Laurel Glen's new budget label made from North Coast (Napa, Sonoma and Mendocino) fruit, this one's a flavory goodie at a price that's fair. Very dark garnet in color, it breathes black fruit and spicy oak aromas. Full and fresh on the palate, black fruit is structured with lemony acidity. Oak is certainly present, but it doesn't dominate the fruit. Fine table wine, showing more than a hint of the character of its bigger brothers in the Laurel Glen stable. (Dec. 22, 1998)
FOOD MATCH: Fine with beef filets braised in red wine.
