Mas Champart 1997 Saint-Chinian ($13.99)
Very dark ruby color, with spicy blueberry-pie aromas, light but appetizing. Fresh berry fruit flavor, crisp and tartly acidic; soft tannins and blueberry flavors persist in a fairly long finish. It's pleasant enough, but not a great value at this price. U.S. importer: Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Berkeley, Calif. (Dec. 7, 1999)
FOOD MATCH: The fresh fruit makes it a good match with roast turkey breast, and the tannins aren't harsh enough to interfere.

All my wine-tasting reports are consumer-oriented. In order to maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, I purchase all the wines I rate at my own expense in retail stores. |
