Luis Felipe Edwards 1996 Colchagua (Chile) Cabernet Sauvignon ($8.99)
Dark garnet, with spicy aromas, slightly dank oak surrounding Cabernet blackcurrant. Better on the palate, with fresh, full black-fruit and light herbal flavor notes, light tannins and restrained oak, quite "French" in character and surprisingly stylish for the price. U.S. importer: William Grant & Sons, NYC. (Nov. 11, 1999)
FOOD MATCH: A natural match with a pan-grilled T-bone.

All my wine-tasting reports are consumer-oriented. In order to maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, I purchase all the wines I rate at my own expense in retail stores. |
