Clear ruby color. Perfumed and floral notes over ripe red fruit. Fresh and bright flavor, simple fruit and lemony acidity. Quaffs well, and makes a fine match with homemade Cincinnati chili, which is, after all, Greek spaghetti sauce. A blend of Mandilaria (red) and Monemvassia (white) grapes, it's made on the island of Paros in the Aegean Sea. Importer: Paterno Imports Ltd., Chicago. (Oct. 28, 1997)
In my opinion, Greece may be the next emerging source of good table wines of value; although they're not widely known in the U.S. as yet, they're fairly priced, and recent years have seen a dramatic increase in quality. For more on Greek wines, see my Wine Value Archive/Greece.
