Verget 1995 Saint-Romain ($12.99)
Having last tasted this wine in December 1996, I pulled another bottle after reading online reports that the lesser '95 White Burgs may not be keeping well. This one's doing OK. Clear gold color, with apples and a pronounced perfumey floral note in the aroma. Full and crisp flavor, very much like biting into a ripe, juicy cooking apple. Green-apple tartness persists in a long finish. Importer: Willett Distributing Co., Alexandria, Ky. (Oct. 16, 1997)
