Rosemount Estate 1998 Shiraz ($10.99)
Inky dark garnet, with grapey, plummy fruit aromas that a dash of freshly ground black pepper. The scent carries over to the palate with big, simple fruit and fragrant pepper; fruity and pleasant if a bit short in the finish. U.S. importer: Rosemount Estates Inc., Sonoma, Calif. (Oct. 11, 1999)
FOOD MATCH: Fat fruit makes it a natural match with a leftover bowl of daube aux pruneaux, beef stewed in red wine with prunes.

All my wine-tasting reports are consumer-oriented. In order to maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, I purchase all the wines I rate at my own expense in retail stores. |
