Chateau Plagnac 1995 Médoc ($12.99)In these days of inflated Bordeaux prices, it's a rare thing to find a 1995 in the $10-$15 range, and rarer still to find a good one. But this Cru Bourgeois entry from Cordier certainly qualifies as a value. Dark garnet in color, it shows delicious cassis aromas and just a hint of the earthy, "leathery" notes that are said to be characteristic of Cordier. On the palate it shows full, tart black fruit, pleasant earthy flavors and substantial tannins that suggest some aging potential. U.S. importer: Seagram Chateau & Estates Wines Co., NYC. (Oct. 10, 1998)
FOOD MATCH: A natural with char-grilled leg of lamb.
