Vicente Gandia 1989 "Hoya de Cadenas" Utiel-Requena Reserva ($4.99) This is my first exposure to this Spanish wine region, which I understand is in Valencia. It's made from Bobal and Tempranillo grapes, found on sale at Premier Liquors in Buffalo, N.Y. It's a clear garnet in color, with an appetizing aroma of red fruit and oaky vanillins and a bright, tart fruit flavor with a healthy dose of oak. Interesting wine, not a world-beater, but certainly well balanced and capable of competing with reds at twice (or more) its bargain-basement price. Importer: Dalmatian Bay Wine Co., Cleveland. (Oct. 5, 1997)
