Pierre Boniface 1995 Apremont Vin de Savoie "Les Recailles" ($7.99)Clear gold. Delicious toasted almond scent with an earthy, musky melon nuance behind it. Fresh, crisp white fruit flavor, simple but appealing, with a pleasant bitterness in the finish. A tasty table wine from eastern France near Lake Geneva; perhaps a bit too simple to rate as a "best buy," but certainly a very good value. U.S. importer: Hand Picked Selections, Warrenton, Va. (Sept. 24, 1998) FOOD MATCH: Excellent with a simple Provence-style shrimp sautee flavored with a dash of Pernod.
