Galet des Papes Domaine du Galet des Papes 1995 "Tradition" Chateauneuf-du-Pape ($19.99)
Inky dark garnet. Ripe red fruit and hints of leather and anise on the nose; big and chewy flavor, fruit and tart, lemony acidity. Not as tannic as you might expect of a '95, with only a light astringent fuzz in the finish. Extremely fragrant black pepper becomes more evident with time in the glass. FOOD MATCH: Good match with filet mignons pan-braised in red wine, Northern Italian style.
