Ponzi 1997 Willamette Valley (Oregon) Pinot Gris ($13.99)Clear straw color. Light musky melon and mint aromas; full, soft and perhaps just off-dry, although crisp acidity keeps sweetness at the edge of perception, white fruit and a whiff of conifer in the finish. (July 20, 1999)
FOOD MATCH: Perfect with salmon poached with caramelized onions, the sweetness of the onions picking up the slight sweetness in the wine.
