Ponzi Ponzi 1997 Willamette Valley (Oregon) Pinot Gris ($13.99)
Clear straw color. Light musky melon and mint aromas; full, soft and perhaps just off-dry, although crisp acidity keeps sweetness at the edge of perception, white fruit and a whiff of conifer in the finish. (July 20, 1999)

FOOD MATCH: Perfect with salmon poached with caramelized onions, the sweetness of the onions picking up the slight sweetness in the wine.

Previous day's wine note

All my wine-tasting reports are consumer-oriented. In order to maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, I purchase all the wines I rate at my own expense in retail stores.
