Trevor Mast 1996 "Four Sisters" South Eastern Australia Sauvignon Blanc/54%-Semillon/46% ($13.99)
Clear pale brass color. Grassy and musky aromas; crisp and bright flavor, fresh fruit and exceptionally tart acidity. Zingy tartness hangs on in a very long finish. Pleasant wine, but lacks the complexity to justify its price. U.S. importer: Epic Wines, Aptos, Calif. (May 5, 1998)

FOOD MATCH: The piercing acidity makes it a decent match with a char-grilled pork tenderloin with a spicy Asian slather.

Grove Grove Mill Waihopai Valley Winery 1997 Marlborough (New Zealand) Riesling ($11.99)
Pale gold color, with delicious scents of grapefruit and tangerine, clean and fresh. Sweet mixed citrus carries over into the flavor, snappy and tart over a light fresh-fruit sweetness. So fresh and lightly sweet that it's easy to gulp this stuff; no complexity, but delightfully refreshing. U.S. importer: Appellation Imports, Annapolis Junction, Md. (May 4, 1998)

FOOD MATCH: Its slightly sweet quaffability made it a natural with an aromatic but not overly fiery curry.
