The restaurant markup (at Louisville's Buca di Beppo, local outlet of the hot-ticket franchise declared "restaurant concept of the year" in 1998) was a bit on the high sice, but Straccali remains a good name for value, and this item went nicely with a broad range of Buca's "immigrant cuisine" from roast peppers to spaghetti marinara (and even did no harm to linguine with clam sauce).

Straccali 1995 Sangiovese di Toscano Vino da Tavola ($23.95/restaurant price)
Clear garnet, with good Sangiovese aromas of wild cherries and oaky spice. Good fresh fruit flavor and snappy acidity, not fading at all. U.S. importer: Palm Bay Imports, Boca Raton, Fla. (Feb. 21, 2000)
