Today's Wine Tasting Note

Seeking a wine made by one of the properties of Jean-Michel Cazes to bring to an online Web chat session with him this weekend, I was unable to locate Ch. Lynch-Bages, Ormes de Pez or any of his other more pricey bottlings on short notice, so had to make do with his generic Bordeaux. No Lynch-Bages, this ... but in fairness, it would still be hard to beat for value at the low-end price.

Michel Lynch 1994 Bordeaux ($7.99)
Dark garnet color. Cassis and herbal aromas with a whiff of caramel. A bit thin on the palate, but good and balanced herbal fruit with tart acidity, clean and consistent in the finish. Good value! (Feb. 8, 1998)

FOOD MATCH: Leftover roast beef and its broth served with hot French bread.

All my wine-tasting reports are consumer-oriented. In order to maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, I purchase all the wines I rate at my own expense in retail stores.
