Domaine de la Voûte des Crozes 1997 Cote de Brouilly ($13.99) - Very dark ruby. Huge ripe-strawberry aroma jumps out of the glass, amazing. Fresh and ripe, juicy strawberry and plum flavors, good Brouilly "earth" and lemon-squirt acidity in a well-balanced and exuberant wine. Outstanding Beaujolais. U.S. importer: Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Berkeley, Calif. (Jan. 29, 2000)
FOOD MATCH: Went surprisingly well with an old-fashioned Italian-American lasagna with tangy tomato sauce, Italian sausage and lots of cheese.

All my wine-tasting reports are consumer-oriented. In order to maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, I purchase all the wines I rate at my own expense in retail stores. |
