I've been following the products of this little Tuscan winery for years, ever since wine-loving pal Arthur Johnson went there and started spreading the word about it online. I'm glad he did!

Dei Dei 1997 Rosso di Montepulciano ($11.99)
Clear ruby. Pleasant black-cherry scent and a spicy whiff of cinnamon. A mouthful of tart-cherry fruit, soft and almost sweet at first, firms up on the palate with lemon-squirt acidity and soft tannins. Good food wine. Importer: Vintner Select, Cincinnati; A Marc de Grazia Selection. (Jan. 5, 1999)

FOOD MATCH: Fine with an Italian-style beef pot roast with a bit of anchovy to add piquancy to the sauce.
