Wine Australia 2000 (Nov. 26)
This outstanding expo, bringing together wine makers and wines from all over Australia under one roof in Melbourne's huge exhibition center, is glitzy and entertaining, and there's plenty of wine here for the sampling. But I'm just about "wined out" after sampling more than 1,000 wines over a three-week period, so I lurk quietly on the sidelines, taking a few pictures and thinking that a cold beer would go mighty well. And then I ran into my Australian wine writer pal Max Allen (pictured at bottom right below), who knew just where to find one. Thanks, Max!

Here's a photo gallery of scenes from the expo floor.

All my wine-tasting reports are consumer-oriented. In order to maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, I accept no free samples from wineries or distributors, purchasing all the wines I rate at my own expense in retail stores.

Have you tasted these wines?
E-mail me your tasting notes, and I'll consider adding them to this page.
