Bloom 2005 "Red Petals" Mosel-Saar-Ruwer Dornfelder Qualitätswein ($8.99)
Clear garnet, not overly dark but full color. Pleasant red-berry aromas with a touch of spearmint lead into a juicy, tart berry flavor with a mouth-watering shot of fresh-fruit acidity. The finish reveals just a hint of sweetness, but the wine could certainly pass as dry. Refreshing, light in alcohol and quaffable at 10.5%, yet quite good with food. That's a lot to offer for a wine well under $10. US Importer: Precept Brands, Seattle. (Jan 11, 2009)

FOOD MATCH: Fresh fruit and crisp acidity make it a good food match with a range of meat, poultry and cheese options. It was a fine match with a local natural pork chop braised with onions and garlic and orzo as a pasta variation on a pilaf.

Wine notes in 'shelf-hanger' format:
We publish Wine Lovers' Page tasting reports in the familiar "shelf-hanger" size and format, to make it easy for wine merchants or collectors to print them out, clip and post them where this wine is displayed. We do ask, however, that the name, logo and URL be left intact, and that these reports be used with the specific wines rated, not different bottlings or vintages.

Our tasting policy:
All my wine-tasting reports are consumer-oriented. In order to maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, I accept no free samples from wineries or distributors, purchasing all the wines I rate at my own expense in retail stores.
