De Faveri Spumante Rosé Extra Dry ($15.99)
It's a beautiful, transparent salmon pink with a lasting bubble stream. Good, delicate red-berry aromas; frothy and tart, with sufficient acidity to cloak delicate residual sugar, and a distinct, pleasant touch of bitterness in the finish. A light 11 percent alcohol makes it particularly inviting as an aperitif that won't knock you back on your heels. US Importer: Specialty Wine Co., Sandusky, Ohio. (Jul 29, 2008)

FOOD MATCH: Fine as an aperitif, delicious with cool summer dinner salads, and - like other frothy, crisp and barely sweet wines - surprisingly good with spicy cuisine, such as my choice, Cajun-style shrimp and chicken gumbo.

Wine notes in 'shelf-hanger' format:
We publish Wine Lovers' Page tasting reports in the familiar "shelf-hanger" size and format, to make it easy for wine merchants or collectors to print them out, clip and post them where this wine is displayed. We do ask, however, that the name, logo and URL be left intact, and that these reports be used with the specific wines rated, not different bottlings or vintages.

Our tasting policy:
All my wine-tasting reports are consumer-oriented. In order to maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, I accept no free samples from wineries or distributors, purchasing all the wines I rate at my own expense in retail stores.
