Maurice Ecard 1999 Savigny-les-Beaune "Les Narbantons"

Dark ruby in color, with a bold scent of wild cherries - almost reminiscent of a cough drop but much more appealing - over nuances of cedar and roses with an undertone of sweet oak. Textured and full, red-fruit and floral character follows the nose, well balanced with crisp acidity. Opens up to increasing complexity with time in the glass, smooth and structured, tannins so soft and ripe that you barely notice them on the palate. US Importer: Vintner Select, Cincinnati, North Berkeley in California, and other regional importers. (May 27, 2002)

FOOD MATCH: Burgundy's affinity for beef shows in its perfect marriage with filet mignons pan-braised in red wine.

Wine notes in 'shelf-hanger' format:
We publish Wine Lovers' Page tasting reports in the familiar "shelf-hanger" size and format, to make it easy for wine merchants or collectors to print them out, clip and post them where this wine is displayed. We do ask, however, that the name, logo and URL be left intact, and that these reports be used with the specific wines rated, not different bottlings or vintages.

Our tasting policy:
All my wine-tasting reports are consumer-oriented. In order to maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, I accept no free samples from wineries or distributors, purchasing all the wines I rate at my own expense in retail stores.
