Domaine des Aubuisières 2005 "Cuvée de Silex" Vouvray ($15.99)
Transparent straw color. Honeydew melon aromas add hints of pineapple and a homeopathic dose of banana oil. Medium-bodied and dry, flavors follow the nose, bright and juicy with fresh-fruit acidity, pineapple and snappy mixed citrus in a long finish. Fruit somewhat overshadows a touch stony "silex" minerality in the ripe 2005 vintage, but a touch of that lovely Loire minerality is in there. US Importer: Weygandt-Metzler, Unionville, Pa. (Feb 21, 2007)

FOOD MATCH: Vouvray is a great pick with fish and seafood, and its gentle sweetness is a virtue in partnership with spicier fare. In short, it's a natural with Cajun and Creole seafood dishes such as my pick, red snapper meunière on a Creole gumbo with rice.

Wine notes in 'shelf-hanger' format:
We publish Wine Lovers' Page tasting reports in the familiar "shelf-hanger" size and format, to make it easy for wine merchants or collectors to print them out, clip and post them where this wine is displayed. We do ask, however, that the WineLoversPage.com name, logo and URL be left intact, and that these reports be used with the specific wines rated, not different bottlings or vintages.

Our tasting policy:
All my wine-tasting reports are consumer-oriented. In order to maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, I accept no free samples from wineries or distributors, purchasing all the wines I rate at my own expense in retail stores.
