Laurel Glen 2003 "Reds" Lodi Red Wine ($9.99)
($9.99) Very dark reddish-purple, black at the center. Ripe and fresh, black cherries and mixed berries with a pleasant touch of anise; forward fruit and hints of smoke and earth appear on the nose and palate. Mouth-watering acidity provides balance, with cherries and warm brown spice in a long, pleasantly astringent finish. US Importer: (Nov 5, 2005)

FOOD MATCH: An easy companion with grilled red meat or poultry, but its fruit and balance helped it fare well with a more offbeat vegetarian match of baked penne with roasted butternut squash and caramelized onions.

Wine notes in 'shelf-hanger' format:
We publish Wine Lovers' Page tasting reports in the familiar "shelf-hanger" size and format, to make it easy for wine merchants or collectors to print them out, clip and post them where this wine is displayed. We do ask, however, that the name, logo and URL be left intact, and that these reports be used with the specific wines rated, not different bottlings or vintages.

Our tasting policy:
All my wine-tasting reports are consumer-oriented. In order to maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, I accept no free samples from wineries or distributors, purchasing all the wines I rate at my own expense in retail stores.
