Verget 2004 Mâcon-Villages ($13.49)
This is a clear, straw-color wine, with simple but correct white Burgundy Chardonnay scents of apples and rising bread dough. Fresh and clean flavors (kept that way by a sturdy metal screw cap) blend tart, juicy apples, a distant whiff of spice and a shot of lemon juice in a simple, medium-bodied wine, dry if not bone-dry. US Importer: Vintner Select, Cincinnati, North Berkeley in California, and other regional importers. (Jul 14, 2005)

FOOD MATCH: Fine with a primavera-style pasta with fresh green beans and tomatoes and bits of country ham in a creamy Comté cheese sauce.

Wine notes in 'shelf-hanger' format:
We publish Wine Lovers' Page tasting reports in the familiar "shelf-hanger" size and format, to make it easy for wine merchants or collectors to print them out, clip and post them where this wine is displayed. We do ask, however, that the name, logo and URL be left intact, and that these reports be used with the specific wines rated, not different bottlings or vintages.

Our tasting policy:
All my wine-tasting reports are consumer-oriented. In order to maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, I accept no free samples from wineries or distributors, purchasing all the wines I rate at my own expense in retail stores.
