Valdinera 2003 Roero Arneis ($15.00)
This clear, light-gold wine offers delicate but complex aromas of white fruit and melons, beeswax and floral notes. Medium-bodied and more fruit-forward on the palate, a burst of pineapple and mango is framed by crisp, fresh-fruit acidity, with a pleasant hint of peach-pit bitterness in the finish. It's on the ripe side - remember that the torrid summer of 2003 extended all over Europe - but much more balanced than some of the very strange '03s from more northerly wine regions. US Importer: John Given Wines Co., Manhasset, N.Y. (Jul 2, 2005)

FOOD MATCH: The wine's body, fruit and complexity made it a perfect match with the seviches featured in the July 7, 2005 Wine Advisor FoodLetter.

Wine notes in 'shelf-hanger' format:
We publish Wine Lovers' Page tasting reports in the familiar "shelf-hanger" size and format, to make it easy for wine merchants or collectors to print them out, clip and post them where this wine is displayed. We do ask, however, that the name, logo and URL be left intact, and that these reports be used with the specific wines rated, not different bottlings or vintages.

Our tasting policy:
All my wine-tasting reports are consumer-oriented. In order to maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, I accept no free samples from wineries or distributors, purchasing all the wines I rate at my own expense in retail stores.
