Argiolas 2001 "Perdera" Isola dei Nuraghi ($11.99)
This wine's blackish, opaque color allows only glints of ruby to shine through. Red fruit and oaky spice blend in a berrylike aroma with interesting apple-like notes unusual in a red wine. Full and warm in flavor, plummy and peppery; sharp acidity and rather scratchy tannins are present but subsidiary to abundant if rather simple fruit. Rustic and a bit rough, but well structured and enjoyable with food. US Importer: Winebow Inc., NYC.; a Leonardo Locascio selection. (Jun 24, 2004)

FOOD MATCH: Good with any grilled meat; surprisingly well matched with fresh-made bratwurst sausage patties from the charcoal grill.

Wine notes in 'shelf-hanger' format:
We publish Wine Lovers' Page tasting reports in the familiar "shelf-hanger" size and format, to make it easy for wine merchants or collectors to print them out, clip and post them where this wine is displayed. We do ask, however, that the name, logo and URL be left intact, and that these reports be used with the specific wines rated, not different bottlings or vintages.

Our tasting policy:
All my wine-tasting reports are consumer-oriented. In order to maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, I accept no free samples from wineries or distributors, purchasing all the wines I rate at my own expense in retail stores.
