Caparoso 2002 Deidesheimer Leinhöhle Pfalz Riesling Kabinett ($20.00)
Very pale straw color with a slight greenish hue, this fine Riesling blasts from the glass with remarkable fruit-bowl scents of juicy grapefruit and luscious pineapple, an aroma that demands a taste. The flavor follows through, a beautiful balance of gentle, just off-dry fruit and steely acidity, tart and quenching, with subtle minerality that adds a layer of complexity. This one will go a long way to recalibrate your palate if you've found Riesling boring. US Importer: USA Wine West, San Rafael, Calif. (Sep 8, 2003)

FOOD MATCH: Fine with alder-smoked salmon tossed with farfalle pasta and a dollop of creme fraiche lightly accented with Indian spice.

Wine notes in 'shelf-hanger' format:
We publish Wine Lovers' Page tasting reports in the familiar "shelf-hanger" size and format, to make it easy for wine merchants or collectors to print them out, clip and post them where this wine is displayed. We do ask, however, that the name, logo and URL be left intact, and that these reports be used with the specific wines rated, not different bottlings or vintages.

Our tasting policy:
All my wine-tasting reports are consumer-oriented. In order to maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, I accept no free samples from wineries or distributors, purchasing all the wines I rate at my own expense in retail stores.
