Rosenblum Vintners Cuvee XXIV California Zinfandel ($10.99)
This very dark purple wine, a blend of 2000 and 2001 vintages with a tiny taste of Mourvedre added, is almost black in the glass. Typical Zinfandel blackberry scents add an aromatic "winey" note, with a hint of something minty in the background. Full berry fruit flavors are mouth-filling and ripe, with a strongly warming quality that, with the vinous aromas, convey an impression of more alcohol than the 13.2% that the label claims. US Importer: (Jul 22, 2003)

FOOD MATCH: Too powerful for my initial choice, a sausage frittata. Better with rare grilled steaks.

Wine notes in 'shelf-hanger' format:
We publish Wine Lovers' Page tasting reports in the familiar "shelf-hanger" size and format, to make it easy for wine merchants or collectors to print them out, clip and post them where this wine is displayed. We do ask, however, that the name, logo and URL be left intact, and that these reports be used with the specific wines rated, not different bottlings or vintages.

Our tasting policy:
All my wine-tasting reports are consumer-oriented. In order to maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, I accept no free samples from wineries or distributors, purchasing all the wines I rate at my own expense in retail stores.
