Eric Texier 2000 Cotes de Provence Cassis ($13.99)
Very clear, pale straw color with a faint pinkish hue. Its scent is pleasant if idiosyncratic, perfumed mint and white fruit, a bit "grapey." Soft but dry, the flavor shows gentle fruit at first, with tangy acidity more apparent in the finish. Its subtle oxidative qualities become more apparent as the wine warms and airs in the glass, opening up to delicate and appealing notes of hazelnut and bitter almond. US Importer: Vintner Select, Mason, Ohio, and other regional importers. (May 20, 2003)

FOOD MATCH: Very fine with a braised chicken and onion dish; the food's flavors seem to enhance the wine's bright, fresh fruit.

Wine notes in 'shelf-hanger' format:
We publish Wine Lovers' Page tasting reports in the familiar "shelf-hanger" size and format, to make it easy for wine merchants or collectors to print them out, clip and post them where this wine is displayed. We do ask, however, that the name, logo and URL be left intact, and that these reports be used with the specific wines rated, not different bottlings or vintages.

Our tasting policy:
All my wine-tasting reports are consumer-oriented. In order to maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, I accept no free samples from wineries or distributors, purchasing all the wines I rate at my own expense in retail stores.
