Toad Hollow 2001 "Cacophony" Paso Robles Zinfandel ($15.59)
Dark reddish-purple with glints of cherry red against the light. Mixed-berry fruit aroma, a bit on the delicate side by Zinfandel standards, gains interest with appealing herbal notes, a shake of dried oregano and a dash of brown spices. Bright, fresh berry fruit flavor is backed by plenty of crisp acidity and just a whisper of tannic astringency to give it structure. US Importer: (Feb 25, 2003)

FOOD MATCH: Fine with red meat or ham; put to work in a meatless match, its relatively delicate fruit made an unexpectedly happy marriage with a simple omelet filled with sharp Cabot Vermont white Cheddar.

Wine notes in 'shelf-hanger' format:
We publish Wine Lovers' Page tasting reports in the familiar "shelf-hanger" size and format, to make it easy for wine merchants or collectors to print them out, clip and post them where this wine is displayed. We do ask, however, that the name, logo and URL be left intact, and that these reports be used with the specific wines rated, not different bottlings or vintages.

Our tasting policy:
All my wine-tasting reports are consumer-oriented. In order to maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, I accept no free samples from wineries or distributors, purchasing all the wines I rate at my own expense in retail stores.
