Wines of Switzerland
Chateau d'Auvernier (Switzerland) 1994 Neuchatel ($14.99)
Clear gold in color; rich muskmelon aroma with caramel notes. Tart,
prickly flavor, full of pineapple fruit, with cleansing acidity in
a long and consistent finish. A rare varietal, the Chasselas; it's
definitely not Chardonnay! Tasty wine, but hard to justify at the
price. Importer: Dreyfus Ashby & Co., NYC. (Feb. 21, 1996)

All my wine-tasting reports are consumer-oriented. In order to maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, I purchase all the wines I rate at my own expense in retail stores. |
