© Andy Abramson Domaine de Morin-Langaran Did you ever want to have a wine to go with Sushi? Well today, in my drive to lunch at the wonderful newer restaurant, Chez Phillippe, I stopped along the road to Agde and went into one of the many producers in Pinet who line the route. Personally I'm a fan of this very crisp white wine from Picpoul de Pinet, especially those from the local cooperative. I started to drink Picpoul back in 1995 and make it a must have each trip alog with fresh oysters from the neary farms in Meze and Sete. Today producer Morin-Langaran showed me two wonderful examples of the grape that just blew me away. And get this.the better one is less money. At Morin-Langran they produce two different Picpoul de Pinet's. The 28FF version comes from bigger vineyards. Labeled Cuvee Saint Jean des Sources it is very typical of the region and a perfect wine to have with oysters. It is bone dry, has tremendous levels of honeydew, cantaloupe and other melons along with dried limes. This almost clear wine is certainly one that would grace my table during shellfish season. The smaller production on though is the wine I think would go best with Sushi. Simply labled Domain de Morin Langain, this 22FF wine is very rich and fragrent. It has body, finesse, is round, lush, yet not so overpowering that it would take-a-way from the raw fish, cheese or shellfish dish you were eating. The flavors are deep. Melons, lime and cantaloupe, all well rounded. Yum ! Andy
