Red-purple color. I'm tempted to call it cordovan. Opaque texture.
This wine was much hyped when put on sale initially several years ago as being closely associated with one of the Leoville chateaux although not labeled as such. It did seem to be a bargain price for a high-quality St. Julien ($29.99 or $19.99 by the case) so I purchased several bottles. I think it's now beginning to come into its own.
Nose of dark berries and plums. Tannins still noticeable but starting to integrate with the ripe fruit. Some elegance. Some chewiness on rear of the palate. Had with tacos. A little sediment in the final glass. Glad I have some bottles remaining.
