WTN: 2003 Buckeley's Shiraz

by Sam Platt » Sat Jun 03, 2006 8:17 am

Being cheap ($10.99) and Australian Shiraz, both recent topics of interest, I decided to post the note.

After a long hot day of yard work, in preparation for my daughter's graduation party, we decided to toss some burgers on the grill for a quick, casual dinner. A long discussion on the appropriate wine match ensued, Pinot, Beaujolais, a Claret all seemed to have potential for pairing with the burgers. In the end we opted for the Shiraz.

2003 Buckeleys Shiraz - Australia

Color: Dark red.

Nose: Stronger than anticipated. Lots of fruit and even a hint of a Burgundy like barnyard aroma at first.

Taste: Cherry and dark fruit. Simple and light weight for a Shiraz. Not at all complex, but perfect for the weather and food pairing. The bottle was gone by the time dinner ended.
