Poll on Netscape Forum: Most promising Eastern wine region

by Robin Garr » Mon May 22, 2006 11:58 am

With attention ramping up for NiagaraCool, I thought it would be fun to run one of those little polls, inviting folks to choose the Eastern state (or Canadian province) that holds the most promise for serious wine good enough to break out and compete on a world level.

Six choices plus the usual "other," ready for your vote and discussion:
Most promising Eastern wine region

I hope a lot of you will wander over there and join in this one for a couple of reasons: First, even though these polls aren't at all "scientific," the results still seem to gain some gravity with a larger number of participants; also, even though I know most of you are much more comfortable over here, I would like to keep the Netscape Forum alive, simply because it's a good place to reach out and nurture new wine lovers - and perhaps even an occasional budding wine geek - and that's a good thing.

I would Robin, except that I have not been able to log on for a while now. I can not get to the logon page.

"The page can not be displayed. .... Can not find server or DNS error"

I should sort it out so that I do not have to logon, but can not be bothered to do it.
Cheers,
Neil Courtney

For the polls, Neil, I don't *think* it's necessary to be logged in.

All I see is some Netscape advertising page when I click on the link. Nothing to do with wine or a poll.

Try it again now, Walt. (Neil, too.) I had a stray garbage character in the embedded link.

Not much point in me voting Robin. I have no idea of any of these areas.

But I like to login to get the last read flags set properly. I think there is a javascript error somewhere.

Neil, it's a little less frustrating for me now that we have the "non-commercial" WLDG back on our own servers, but I continue to be, as I've been since last November, utterly bewildered as to how the CompuServe forum can operate so utterly differently for so many different people, including computer pros like you. I can't explain it, I can only shake my head and say, in acronymic form, "WTF?"

Didn't you and Sue have a working hypothesis at one point about a specific Netscape ad server that didn't seem to like your ISP? Is that a possible issue?

No, the ad server just stoped it working totally. I don't recall it being related to the login screen. This hasn't been a problem for a long time now.
