Vin de Savoie Chignin (blanc) vieilles vignes 2005, Andre et Michel Quenard Savoie, France
100% jacquere. Light straw colour. Fresh and flowery nose with hints of pear, mineral, alpine flowers. Quite light, fresh and acidic wine with fine elegance. Fine concentration. Fresh, flowery fruit with a little mineral touch. Medium length. A very fine summerdrink and well worth the money.
Roussette de Savoie 2005, Andre et Michel Quenard Savoie, France
Straw/greenish colour. Fresh nose, but less aromatic than the jacquere from the same producer. More flowery and with nice mineral depth. Medium bodied and flowery fruit in the mouth. Lightly mineral. Quite crisp wine with fine acids and good length. Foodfriendly summer-wine. Good and very fine for the price.
Vin de Savoie Chignin Mondeuse vieilles vignes 2005, Andre et Michel Quenard Savoie, France
Dark purple colour. The intence nose shows smoke - almost ash, dark berries and some mineral. In the mouth this is a concentrated and structured mondeuse. A lot of fruit and good depth. Quite smokey, peppery and dark berries. Even with this concentration and structure it still provides the freshnesss and lightness of a mondeuse. Fine acids and some drying tannins in the back. A very fine wine indeed with special character.
Freisa La Selva di Moirano 1993, Scarpa Monferrato, Piemonte
Deep brick colour. Fine and complex nose of anise, roses and acidic red berries. Fine high notes. Medium bodied and concentration in the mouth. Mature wine with the fruit starting to fade a little. Fine complexity with notes of smoke, anise, roses. Fine acids and light tannins in the back. Still very fine, but this showed more fruit last time. Drink up.
Kaseler Kehrnagel riesling auslese 1989, Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt Ruwer, Germany
AP: 3 561 077-89-90. Deep yellow colour. Sweet and honeyed nose. Complex. Some hints of forest floor, flowers and a hint of petrol. With time the nose shows more and more depth and is very fine indeed. Powerful and sweet riesling in the mouth. A bit sugar-heavy with decent acids for this grape. Some fine aromas in the fruit, a bit evolved, but still young. A fine wine with great nose, but a little weak structure in the mouth. Shows what great einzellagen the Kehrnagel is. Drinks well now, but I would hold another 2-3 years.
Schloßböckelheimer Kupfergrube riesling spätlese 2004, Dönnhoff Nahe, Germany
AP:775 301 012 05. Straw/greenish colour. Some spritz. Fine and complex nose. Quite mineral (stone, slate light earth), young florality, honey, citrus. Crisp spätlese in the mouth with good concentration for the vintage. Quite sweet, but fine balancing acidity manking the wine slim. Mineral, some flowers and light earth. Citrusy finish. Good length. Young spätlese riesling with great structure and fine complexity. Reflecting the great einzellage perfectly.
Champagne cuvee Prestige grand cru blanc de blancs brut 1996, Bonnaire Champagne, France
Straw, quite deep, colour. Very fine and flowery nose. Hints of chalk, mineral, forest floor, fine depth and typical Cramant. Fullbodied and almost a little "fat" entrance. Great cocentration. Flowery, forest floor,-character. Mineral and with a citrusy finish. Good structure and acidic long finish. Fine integrated mousse. A very great Cramant-champagne which drinks surprisingly well for a 96. From the cork it seems there is some time since degorgement. This is a darn fine champagne for the money.
