2012 Riesling in the bottle

Hi Everybody,

I just bottled my 2012 Riesling. This is my second year making wine at home, and my first attempt at a white. In the carboy, the wine had the colour of apple cider, so I was nervous it had oxidized, but in the bottle it has a very nice light peach colour, reminiscent of the Herzog orange muscat. I debated whether or not I should filter it because it was quite clear, but went with a 5 micron filter after carefully examining it with a flashlight. I think it was the right decision.

It turned out quite aromatic, and extremely fruity, with lots of apricot, citrus and peach. The aftertaste lingers with lots of apricot now, even ten minutes later!

As with my last vintage, I won't win any awards, but I don't think anybody will leave some in their glass either.

Should anybody find themselves in downtown Ottawa please let me know and I'll crack open a bottle!

Next week I think I'll bottle the Cabernet Sauvignon if I have the time.
