2006 Wittmann Westhofener Aulerde Riesling Großes Gewächs - Germany, Rheinhessen (4/4/2013)
A good dry Riesling, though not a great one. There's plenty of very ripe peach and citrus fruit, some solid underlying minerality and the acid balance is fine. I just do't get much in the way of length. It starts out very tasty, but drops off too quickly.

Yeah, tough vintage for botrytis. I assume that there was either a healthy dose of active charcoal pitched into the must before sedimentation or the must was filtered. Either way, you're going to lose a lot of flavor and aroma.

Cheers,
Bill

Perhaps so. Luckily it was sold at a discount. It would be a monumental letdown if I had payed full price.
