Paris wine shops - la deuxième partie

by Jon Peterson » Tue Mar 19, 2013 8:13 am

I am in search of Amer Picon, a bitter, orange flavored aperitif. I understand it is available only in France. Does anyone know if it is widely available or will I have trouble finding it in Paris, also? I will be in Paris next month and would love to bring two or three bottles home with me.

I would not say widely available - it is very much an acquired taste - but not impossible to find either. A safe bet: Galeries Lafayette in Boulevard Haussmann up in the 9th, (Métro Chaussée d'Antin - La Fayette et Havre - Caumartin). It is worth a visit anyhow, its Bordeaux stash is supposed to be the biggest in the world with 1500+ references. Are you looking for the one intended for wine or the one for beer?

Greetings from Sweden / Fredrik L

Wine and, of course, Amer Picon.

Thank you, Fredrik, for your recommendation. Liz and I will go there!
